Comfort Maximized – From New Plants to Furnace Service

With cooler temperatures settled in and days that seem like there’s barely any sunlight, it can be tough to always feel like your home is a cozy place to be. That goes far beyond having annual furnace service too, because there are numerous things you can do to help make your home feel comfortable even when your furnace is operating at its peak.

Here are four that we find very helpful here in Macon:

  • Seal air leaks. Air leaks, whether they’re around your windows or your doors, can mean a lot of air is sneaking out of your home. Not to mention that the air that you’ve just paid to be heated or cooled is going outside as well. There are a variety of options that can help you seal those gaps, from weatherstripping to caulking, and they are pretty simple fixes for homeowners to take care of themselves.
  • Swap your furnace filter. This is one of the most crucial things you can do to not only increase your furnace’s efficiency, but also to help save you on your energy costs. Plus, you don’t need to have your furnace service technician to do it, you can handle it yourself. It’s typically recommended to change your furnace filter every one or two months to get the most out of its capabilities, but some may last even longer.
  • Buy plants. Indoor plants can offer a variety of comforts for your home. Not only are they visually pleasing, they can potentially better your indoor air quality as well because plants absorb a host of pollutants that are emitted from a variety of common household cleaners, paints and other products.
  • Furnace service. This should be something that you’re already doing, but it never hurts to get a reminder. Having furnace service performed annually helps you be sure that your furnace is in working-order, and if there’s a need for repairs, those can be handled so your comfort isn’t conceded.

It doesn’t have to feel overwhelming to keep a comfortable home when winter sets in. Feel free to give us a call at 478-784-1109 or set up an appointment online to talk about any of these suggestions or find out more about furnaces, our furnace service or anything else comfort related.
