Add AC Repair and Service to Your Spring To-Do List

April 28, 2016

Spring is finally here. We’re awfully sure your to-do list already feels overly long, but we have a few things that might save you some trouble and keep you comfortable in the months to come. The weather is going to start heating up in Macon and the last thing you want is to find out is that you’re facing an AC repair. Going through this simple checklist now may save you from sweating this summer.

  1. Check Your Air Filter and Ducts
Changing your air filter makes it to almost every one of our lists of things to check because it's so important and so often forgotten. If your air filter is a mess, your system will have to work harder to keep you cozy. This costs you more money and causes more work on the system which diminishes the life and efficiency of your system. Your ducts and registers are an additional piece of the puzzle that is often forgotten as well. While you're spring cleaning, take off the covers from your registers and vacuum inside them. While you have the covers taken off, soak them in mild dish soap, give them a scrub and swap them after they've dried.
  2. Clean Your Outdoor Unit
Keep any outdoor units clear of debris such as grass clippings, leaves or plant overgrowth. This debris can clog your system and cause it to lower its efficiency.
  3. Set Up Your Annual AC Tune-Up
This is where we step in to help you take on that to-do list. An annual AC tune-up lengthens the life of your system and keeps it operating at optimal efficiency. Spring is the best time to schedule your tune-up so any concerns or AC repair that needs to be made can be handled before the hot summer months. The cost of a tune-up is a small investment into the lifecycle of your system. Think of it as giving your air conditioner an oil change.

We can't help you with the entirety of your spring to-do list, but we can help you with all things involving your home comfort. We want to make sure you’re cool and comfortable all summer long. If you have any questions about spring cleaning, your system or need to arrange your annual AC tune-up, please give us a call at 478-202-3170.
